
President Ronald J. Daniels and Dr. Francesca Dominici Dr. Dominici is a Professor of Biostatistics at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. During her career, Dr. Dominici has displayed her commitment to diversity in promoting gender diversity. From 2002 – 2007, Dr. Dominici chaired the Faculty Subcommittee, of the University Committee on the Status of Women (UCSOW). In 2002 President Brody and Provost Knapp empanelled the UCSOW and charged the Committee to “develop formal analysis and strategy for the University and its leaders about the nature and seriousness of the obstacles to gender equity for women faculty, students and staff; the dimensions that needed to be addressed to correct these obstacles and the strategic approaches to be taken at the level of the University and the individual Divisions to accomplish the necessary organizational change.”
More recently, Dr. Dominici lead a University-wide effort to submit an R01 NIH grant as a response to the RFA from the National Institutes of Health to support research on casual factors and interventions that promote careers of women in biomedical science and engineering. She has developed a web portal with links to several University Committees on the Status of Women reports. Dr. Domenici is a strong advocate of racial and gender diversity in the recruitment of students, staff and faculty. She has made herself available for mentoring junior female faculty. Dr. Dominici has made important scientific contributions on gender diversity. She is a leader, a role model and has a compassionate commitment towards this important issue.
