President Ronald J. Daniels and Ms. Rosa Asitimbay Rosa Asitimbay is a Human Resources Clerk in Pediatrics at Home division of the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. The responsibilities of this organization include providing IV therapy, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), respiratory, rehabilitation and nursing care at home to infants, children and adolescents with varying conditions. The majority of patients that use this system receive multiple therapies.
In 2008, Pediatrics at Home served 50 Hispanic speaking pediatric patient families. Language barriers presented multiple challenges to pediatric nursing and professional staff. Rosa has acted as a resource to the nurses and intake staff. She has assisted as an interpreter between the nursing staff and the families. On several occasions, she has accompanied nurses on patient home visits. She has learned from the pediatric staff what medication reconciliation is, how to provide breast feeding support, how to weigh and report a babies weight and many other clinical aspects of care in order to interpret for the nurses and rehab staff. Rosa has gone above and beyond the requirements of her position to offer the necessary support needed to assist many of the patients. Congratulations, Rosa Asitimbay on assisting Hopkins in bridging the language barrier through cultural competence. Return to the gallery | | |
