2008 Diversity Recognition Award Recipients

Carol Libonati

Carol Libonati

Carol Libonati is an Instructor in the School of Nursing and has been a member of the school’s diversity committee since 2005. She is the current chair for the school’s Cultural Competency & Diversity Committee. As chair of the committee, she promotes diversity, cultural awareness and tolerance initiatives.

This year, as a result of her efforts, she helped the committee realize diversity events such as the “Evening of Spoken Word,” the “Diversity Week Gallery,” and “Enlighten the Night.” The diversity week gallery consisted of students, faculty and staff who had worked in other countries. They presented information and material from that country. Students and faculty from other cultures presented material from their country and faculty presented on various aspects of nursing. As a continuing effort to promote diversity and inclusiveness, Carol is planning to have speakers present on subjects as, “Working with the hearing impaired” and “Students working abroad.” Congratulations Carol.
