2008 Diversity Recognition Award Recipients

Stephanie Huang

Ms. Stephanie Huang

Stephanie is the president of the Homewood Chinese Student Association (CSA) and an active participant in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Through her position as president of (CSA), Stephanie has promoted diversity and inclusiveness in many of the organization’s activities. While in past years, CSA has promoted most of its activities primarily toward the Chinese student commujnity at Hopkins. Through her leadership, Stephanie actively engaged other non-Chinese students to participate in Dumpling Night and the CSA Banquet activities.

As a result, this year’s Lunar New Year Banquet was attended by a diverse group of 200 students. 60% had never attended a CSA Banquet (35% were non-Asian) and 35% of all attendees were non-Chinese (of which 70% of attendees were non-Asian). Stephanie also incorporates collaboration between cultural student groups as a part of her platform. Stephanie, through the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, is promoting the initiative to include diversity discussions that would feature lectures and guest speakers. She is also proposing a cross cultural Hopkins Olympics where all cultures of the Hopkins community can participate and be recognized. Congratulations Stephanie.
